We are currently seeking a GC Operator- PCAPP. This position is in Pueblo, CO.
JOB SUMMARY
The Researcher conducts technical activities with general supervision and is responsible for the application of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures as applied to the PCAPP laboratory. Candidate is responsible specific portions of projects as assigned and interacts with clients, making presentations of project progress or results as appropriate.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs sample receipt, preparation and analysis of air, solid and liquid samples as assigned to meet schedule time constraints. Troubleshoots the testing process when expected results are not obtained. Recommends and executes path forward to resolve analysis problems.
Performs assignments using moderately complex instrumentation to include, but not limited to, Gas Chromatograph equipped with a Flame Photometric Detector (GC-FPD), spectrophotometer, pH meters, and thermal desorption systems.
Performs method detection limit studies and optimizes instrument parameter to validate method performance in support of process sample requirements. Recommends and executes path forward to resolve method performance or instrument issues.
Interprets analytical results, qualifies data appropriately and develops analytical data packages.
Performs independent technical reviews and assessments of test data, laboratory operating procedures, technical specifications, performance charting, and instrument operating conditions and limits are maintained in accordance with governing plans and policy.
Builds and fosters relationships with internal clients. Has limited contact with external clients.
May oversee lower-level staff in extracting and preparing data of less experienced staff members.

THE FOLLOWING IS REQUIRED
Bachelor’s degree in related field with 2 years of experience or master’s degree in related field; or an equivalent combination of education and or experience in a related field. Excellent PC skills which may include database entry/management (e.g. Windows OS, Access, MS Office Suite).
THE FOLLOWING IS DESIRED
Knowledge in toxic chemical handling, wet chemistry techniques and instrumental methods of analysis including gas chromatographic analysis is highly desired.
Experience with chemical agents, toxic industrial chemicals, hazardous waste management and instrumental analysis highly desired.

SALARY
Salary: $69,000 – $80,000 a year This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
