Reports to
Supervising Librarian, Philip Roth Personal Library (PRPL)
Librarian, Special Collections Division (SpCol)
Job purpose
The PRPL Library Associate assists in the daily operations of the Philip Roth Personal Library and provides support to the Special Collections Division. This is a 6-month term which may be renewed pending the status of the project.
Duties and responsibilities
Philip Roth Personal Library:
Staff the Philip Roth Personal Library on an as-needed basis
Assist with developing and hosting tours and activities
Transcribe audio-visual material
Assist researchers and answer reference questions
Maintain and perform research on items in the collection
Record visitor statistics, and other duties as assigned
Special Collections Division
Provide research assistance via phone, email, and in-person
Facilitate discovery through online access to information about collections
Participate in community outreach activities
Help with organizing exhibits
Assist with inventories, and other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Excellent computer skills, especially typing.
Attention to detail and good problem solving ability.
High school diploma; associate’s degree or certificate preferred
Working conditions
The work week is up to 30 hours, $20 an hour. Hours are flexible.
Qualified applicants will be contacted for an interview immediately.
COVID vaccination or weekly COVID test required and results must be submitted prior to hiring date.
Physical requirements
Ability to lift 35 pounds, move books, and push and pull book trucks as required.
Ability to climb ladders up to 12 feet high.
Ability to lift heavy materials and to work in dusty conditions
