Salary Range:
$65,000 Annually

This position requires functional and professional knowledge of crime analysis to aid investigations, law enforcement patrol operations, and aid decision-making for solving problems.
This position will need to access information from various sources including LE databases for collection and processing it into actionable intelligence. The position will regularly focus on tactical and operational analysis and periodical strategic analysis.
This position will also help with working on grants that center around evidence-based police practices like problem-oriented policing, community-oriented policing and intelligence-led policing. Knowledge of theories, strategies and techniques in policing and crime prevention is highly recommended.

Requirements (Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification):

Completion of undergraduate core program in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or related field; Must have prior experience using analytical tools such as Excel, ArcGIS and I2 Analyst’s Notebook; Must have the ability to secure clearance for access to LE databases; Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Preferred Requirements:

Preferred knowledge of statistical tools like CrimeStat.
Preferred certifications or academic certificates in crime/ intelligence analysis

Job Duties (Summary)

Collects, researches, analyzes, coordinates and organizes data and problems regarding sophisticated and/or complex criminal intelligence information, activity and other resources (e.g., determines patterns, events, identities and activities of organized crime groups, and/or professional criminals to aid law enforcement agencies with investigations and makes presentations to case agents and/or law enforcement agencies); Provide strategic and tactical intelligence analysis to law enforcement personnel to assist in the identification of on-going and emerging crime patterns and trends, and criminal groups and organizations; Develops proper research tools and methods and prepares analytical reports, charts and analysis (e.g., link analysis; time and/or commodity flow; telephone, cellular telephone and pager tolls); develops intelligence request forms to appropriately accommodate intelligence information.
Analyze and identify methods of operation, possible suspects, violent offenders, known offenders, threats; Identify hot spots, problem facilities, repeat locations, repeat victims, and repeat offenders; Update lists of offenders and criminal activities regularly; Monitor parole and probation releases for threat identification; Determine source reliability, accuracy, and integrity; develop investigative leads and links; distinguish patterns and trends.
Label and classify files according to standard guidelines into a logical, concise, and understandable order for retrieval if further analysis is needed; prepare and present detailed graphical presentations (intelligence reports, charts, graphs), including presentations to outside organizations requesting information on threats to the state; conduct complex research and strategic crime analysis to identify and evaluate patterns and trends, using statistical analyses, uses strong reasoning and deductive skills to test hypotheses, develops victim and suspect profiles, and forecasts, criminal activity; collect and compile criminal intelligence information and statistics to generate intelligence products;
Draft monthly/quarterly reports, statistical reports for grant compliance, briefing summaries, submissions, updates and other related correspondence to inform decision-making; Develops and analyzes informational databases, spreadsheets and reports allowing information to be easily exchanged and understood; prepares case reports and charts for user agencies and/or court systems and testifies in court and maintains case files; assists in reviewing and recommending software and hardware equipment.
Serves as resource person and technical advisor (e.g., responds to requests for information; represents agency in meetings) in area of criminal intelligence; Collect, review and analyze latest research in policing, law enforcement, crime prevention, crime analysis, criminology and criminal justice.
Establish communication and active channels for information exchange with local, federal and state law enforcement agencies as well as community partners. Prepare for public speaking events, including government leaders, outside agencies, media, general public and internal/external classroom training; attend conferences, seminars and symposiums for up to date knowledge; persistently identify avenues for advanced training and education.
