Director of Retail Operations
The primary responsibility of the Director of Retail Operations is to ensure all business sales units and departments within the Campus Store and Ram Shop operate at a high level of functional efficiency, maximizing sales and profitability. This requires planning, organization, and processes that support outstanding customer service with the appropriate product mix and delivery which results in a successful operation serving the entire West Chester University campus community.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Retail Operations provides quality leadership to the administrative, operational, buying, marketing, strategic planning, revenue maximization, training and staffing aspects of the campus retail stores with special emphasis in the academic course materials department.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan, organize, communicate, and ensure understanding of all operational policy and procedures for all Campus Store and Ram Shop employees
Works with NetSuite POS System for textbook, general merchandise, supplies, sundry items, etc. NetSuite is the inventory system used to manage the Campus Store and Ram Shop inventory and sales reporting
Works with Verba, a textbook comparison and digital delivery software, that allows the textbook department to source books at the lowest cost and manipulates textbook prices to be competitive in the marketplace while staying within acceptable gross margins for profitability
Support and grow a vibrant Inclusive Access digital textbook program
Partners on and delivers the store’s annual budget each year with the Executive Director to meet the needs of the Campus Store staff, ensuring minimal expenditures and maximum efficiency with payroll dollars while monitoring stock levels and purchases to stay within budget
Keeps abreast of market trends and social media to determine areas of opportunity in the Campus Store and Ram Shop
Plans and oversees in-store and online promotional events for Freshman Orientation, Fall and Spring semester rush, book buyback/rental check-in, Open House events, athletic events, Graduation, etc.
Analyzes sales and revenue reports and forecasts to ensure an accurate monthly and yearly inventory
Oversees end of year physical inventory including planning, preparing and directing all staff for a successful outcome
Manages all time reporting, scheduling, and PTO request approval for Campus Store Managers in ADP Time & Attendance system
Leads, partners with, develops employees and communicates plans with staff members
Familiarity with storewide functions and operations
Engages in consistent campus outreach to identify opportunities and address needs
Related duties and responsibilities as necessary and/or assigned
Requirements
10 years retail experience
Bachelor’s Degree
Strong communication skills and a can-do attitude
Campus store experience a plus but not required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
