Do you have experience in the health insurance industry such as claims administration, underwriting, auditing, contracts, consumer services, or compliance? Do you have knowledge of health insurance laws and regulations? Are you able to communicate effectively in written and verbal form? If you answered yes to these questions join our team as a Health Insurance Contract & Rate Analyst in our Health & Life Division at the Utah Insurance Department!
The Contract & Rate Analyst will primarily be tasked with reviewing health insurance contract filings. This is a great opportunity for individuals who are detail oriented and have a comprehensive knowledge of health insurance, including annuities. Most of the contract review work is done independently with ample opportunities for collaboration with a larger team to discuss issues or policy questions as they arise. Organization skills as well as the ability to clearly communicate compliance issues with companies are integral to the position.
Principal Duties
As a Contract & Rate Analyst for health insurance, you will:
Advocate for health insurance consumers to ensure health insurance contracts contain required consumer protections.
Review and analyze health insurance contracts to ensure compliance with federal and state laws.
Effectively communicate with insurers regarding objections and recommendations identified during an analysis of a health insurance contract.
Negotiate compliant and reasonable solutions.
The Best Qualified Candidate
The best-qualified candidate for this position will have:
3 or more years of experience in the health insurance industry including experience in:
insurance contract and product development;
claims administration;
consumer services; or
conflict resolution.
Knowledge of health insurance laws.
Strong, well-rounded computer and writing skills.
Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
Able to read, understand, apply, and explain federal and state laws.
Individuals with life insurance experience may also be considered.

Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
If you are currently licensed with the Utah Insurance Department, your license will be suspended while you are employed by the Department. Your license can be reactivated once you are no longer employed by the Department.
