Job Description : Communications Manager*Location: StatewideEmployment Type: Regular, Full-timeSalary band: $50,000- $63,000Reports to: Deputy Communications Director of Media Relations**Organization Overview:Florida Rising is an independent political organization bringing together Black and Brown communities to seize power and govern to advance social, economic, and racial justice across Florida.**Job Description:The Communications Manager (CM) is responsible for the planning and implementation of Florida Rising’s integrated strategic communications program throughout the state of Florida. This includes earned media strategy, training spokespeople, and paid media campaigns. Additionally, the CM will support the organization’s staff in developing and maintaining strategic partnerships with external organizations and funders. The CM reports directly to the Deputy Communications Director of Media Relations.**Primary Responsibilities:Draft and revise communications that include but are limited to press releases, media packets,talking points, letters to the editor and editorial materialsCoordinate with the Communications Directors and organizing team to help develop frames, messages, and communications plans for specific programs including climate, housing, criminal, and gender justice reformsHelp develop and maintain metrics that accurately measure the success of the communications program(s)Develop communications plans for tier 1 and tier 2 campaignsFacilitate spokesperson trainings and interview preparation meetings with staff and members and maintain organizational storybook to include member storiesOther projects as assigned.**Qualifications:Applicant must share a commitment to the organization’s values and mission.Two years of communications/public relations or marketing experience.Experience in political campaigns, unions or grassroots organizing for social justice issues is preferred.Management or leadership experience preferred.Comprehensive knowledge of media operations and expertise in the field of public relations and release of information for publication.Excellent written and verbal communications skills.Must be able to meet deadlines with attention to detail, accuracy and high-quality work in writing, and proofreading.Exceptional interpersonal skills to work in a high paced environment.Ability to work independently, yet collaboratively, according to goals of the organization.Ability to interact with and understand persons of various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds.Fluency in English is required; capacity in Spanish or Creole is a plus.Valid driver’s license and reliable means of transportation; travel may be required throughout the state.*”Work RemotelyTemporarily due to COVID-19Job Type: Full-timePay: $50,000.00 – $63,000.00 per yearBenefits:401(k)Dental insuranceHealth insurancePaid time offVision insuranceSchedule:8 hour shiftMonday to FridayApplication Question(s):Did a Florida Rising employee encourage you to apply?
