The position oversees the work of custodians, formulates work schedules and orders custodial supplies. This position is designated as a “Critical Employee” and will be present at work on inclement weather days.Minimum Qualifications:1. High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of three years successful school district experience. 2. Demonstrated strong skills in reading, writing and communication. 3. Demonstrated ability to: o Organize, set priorities and coordinate activities. o Maintain accurate records. o Manage building maintenance and operations. o Establish and maintain positive and effective relationships with students and staff. o Lift 40-50 pounds repeatedly during work shift. o Communicate effectively with staff, parents and students. o Exhibit leadership skills in communication with and directing work of others. 4. Demonstrated success in: o Creating school-wide ownership for building maintenance. o Oversee the work of others. 5. Must obtain CPR and First Aid certification as required by the District. 6. Possession of a valid Washington State Driver’s License is required. 7. Willingness and ability to be flexible. 8. Demonstrated success and willingness to support building-wide goals and programs. 9. Demonstrated knowledge of: o CKSD custodial practices and procedures. o Cleaning procedures and material use. o Preventative maintenance techniques. 10. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of people in a multicultural and diverse socio-economic setting.Performance Responsibilities:1. This position is designated as a “Critical Employee” and will be present at work on inclement weather days. Responsible for shoveling and deicing designated areas as needed. 2. Clean, sweep, mop and wax floors; replace broken tiles. Vacuum and extract carpets; wash walls and windows; clean spills and sweep sidewalks. Refill soap and paper towel dispensers and clean restrooms. Cafeteria duty (i.e. to include but not limited to setting up, folding and taking down cafeteria tables on a daily basis as needed.) Empty trash. 3. Perform minor repairs or assembling of equipment; replace light bulbs; remove clogs from drains and toilets; painting; install whiteboards and bulletin boards; assemble furniture. 4. Require periodic work on ladders and man-lifts; maintain required lift certification. 5. Maintain safe conditions in building to eliminate hazards and prevent accidents. 6. Maintain current knowledge of school firefighting equipment, maintain equipment in proper operating condition; maintain current knowledge of how to report a fire and obtain emergency help. 7. Monitor safety of buildings; attend to hazardous conditions; ensure that doors and windows are locked at appropriate times. Coordinate building use with various groups.8. Oversee work of custodians; plan, schedule, assign and review work; may provide necessary training; may provide input to hiring and evaluation process. 9. Manage heating system and cafeteria maintenance. Check fire extinguishers and fire alarms; prepare inspection reports. 10. Respond positively to teacher and office staff requests or minor emergencies; take action promptly. 11. Work with District maintenance staff during summer school closing. 12. Provide direction and training for substitutes and temporary job training assistants. Maintain good working relationship with Community School’s people who are using building; respond to requests; inform supervisor when problems arise. 13. Work collaboratively and in conjunction with building administrator’s and supervisor’s expectations. 14. Work in a positive manner with diverse groups. 15. Maintain inventory and ordering of custodial supplies; check supplies received against purchase order and resolve discrepancies. 16. Periodically check building for damage and take any necessary action; report damage to supervisor. 17. Oversee maintenance of school grounds/building grounds. 18. Uphold and assist in enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and board policy. 19. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities. 20. Requires the use of multiple communication and technology systems, which may include electronic mail, computers, document cameras, smart boards and web-based resources. 21.
