Job Description : Summary/Objective
The host’s primary responsibility is to ensure guest delight by providing an exceptional experience that makes our guests want to return again and again. Their energy is “up and out”. Basic duties are to take guest to-go orders, seat guests, take reservations, and answer any guest inquiries. Another essential function is to advocate for the guest and give your best service 100% of the time.

Guest Relations:
Smiles and makes eye contact with every guest.
Is able to recognize a difficult situation (i.e. long wait times) and communicate proactively and effectively with the guest.
Appears relaxed and calm, while moving with a sense of urgency.
Answers the phone with a “smile” in their voice. Consistently uses proper phone etiquette.
Strives to meet the specific needs of parties with young children; consults with the family on what will work best for them.
Staff Relations:
Treats all staff members with respect, this includes supporting and mentoring new staff members.
Maintains open lines of communication with management and all co-workers to problem solve and ensure smooth operations.
Is receptive to coaching from management. Responds with a positive attitude and a willingness to improve or modify behavior.
Operations/Tasks:
Comes to work on time and ready to work. Uniform should be neat, clean and complete.
Knows all table numbers, position points, and server sections.
Works with other staff to ensure the dining room is clean and organized at all times. Is constantly pre-bussing, picking up trash from the floor, straightening tables and chairs, etc. as needed. Completes all opening & closing sidework.
Is timely in all aspects of service; the greeting, getting guests seated, and letting them know who their server will be.
Demonstrates in depth knowledge of all menus. Is able to answer guest questions thoughtfully, without stating “I don’t know”. This includes basic understanding of recipes, acceptable substitutions, allergens, and presentation.
Keeps the host stand neat and properly stocked with copies, menus, writing utensils, etc. before, during and at the end of their shift.
Performs restroom checks to make sure they are clean (no overflowing garbage cans) and stocked with paper towels, toilet paper, and soap.
Keeps the table map updated with correct seat times and clearing tables.
Work Environment
Fast paced restaurant environment.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This may be a full time or part time position. Employees may be asked to work up to 10 hours in a shift.
