The product scope includes primarily cash equities and other products that are traded by equity trading desks around the world, including FX, listed derivatives, principal investments, bonds, loans, commodities, ETFs, Swaps, and derivatives. The supported trading desks include equity sector/core, electronic trading, program trading, emerging markets, and several Firm trading desks (internal hedge funds).
Core functions transferred to the Mumbai team includes:
Trade processing exceptionsCertain trade booking / amendmentsPosition (trading account) reconciliationPosition break flagging and categorizationSettlement fails monitoringP&L break researchReference data maintenanceBusiness process improvement

The role requires very strong focus on risk, training, and people development, while offering great opportunities for personal learning and career growth. A Director should have about 9+ years of experience in a similar set up and have sound knowledge of capital markets operations.

Primary Responsibilities:

– An absolute focus on risk controls. The teams will be responsible for reconciling and accurately representing traders- positions. The tolerance for error or delay is very low to zero.
Hire and train the best people we can find in the marketMotivate, coach, and retain staff, limiting staff turnover as much as possibleBuild an effective team

Ensure timely, accurate, and complete communications between the Mumbai center and trade support groups and other operations/finance/IT/business teams in the various officesEstablish and enforce detailed escalation procedures and practicesAssist in, and in some respects lead the transition of functions from global Morgan Stanley locationsLearn Morgan Stanley-s businesses, organization, procedures, controls, systems, and staff management practices, as rapidly and thoroughly as possibleImprove business processes to strengthen controls, communications, and improve efficiency

QUALIFICATIONSExperience with institutional equity trade support or settlements, preferably from a major global institutionProduct and operational knowledge in global cash equities (primarily), corporate actions, FX, listed derivatives, commodities, bonds, loans, swaps, derivatives, principal investmentsRisk awareness, willingness and propensity to probe, question, and escalateProven people development and team management skillsExcellent communication skills including fluent spoken and written English requiredHigh computer literacy required, moderate to high expertise with Excel (including creating macros) desiredProject Management or implementation of global strategic initiatives.Excellent attention to detail, problem solving skills and excellent judgmentTakes ownership of issues is methodical and ensures resolutionHas proven ability to interact with multiple internal and external functions
