Job Description : Alaskan Tour Guide – Seasonal PositionJune 2022 to mid-Sept 2022This position requires exceptional customer service skills and the ability for entertaining and engaging with people from diverse backgrounds. The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for creating memorable Alaska experiences for visitors to our state. Alaska resident with extended residency is highly preferred as well as locally based Wasilla or Palmer resident preferred.We require an enthusiastic, energetic and entertaining personality to join our team of guides in presenting our personalized small group day tours in Southcentral and parts of Interior Alaska. Must be able to work independently, long days, flexible schedules and you will be required to work weekends as needed. Must be able to be away from home for extended periods during the touring season.Locations traveled: Anchorage, Palmer, Wasilla, Seward, Homer, Talkeetna, Denali, FairbanksHome Office: Wasilla, AlaskaVehicle Type: Small Coach, 14 passengers or less, with trailer in tow – DOT regulatedPassengers per Tour: 2-13 per coachTour lengths: 7 to 10 daysSeason of Operations: June, 2022 to September 15, 2022Provide exceptional customer service to people of all ages, nationality and religious or political beliefsDrive tour vehicle along specified routeProvide informative and interesting narrationAttend to enquiries and requests from customersBrief passengers ahead of schedule for daily preparationRefuel and check vehicle at specified pointsMaintain transportation logs as requiredHandle check in details for lodgings, activities and attractionsAssist customers with baggage handlingLead short walks and hikes for able clientsAssist and serve clients during picnic eventsPerson SpecificationKnowledgeable Alaska resident – Please, do not apply for this job if you do not live in Alaska.Palmer-Wasilla resident highly preferredAbility to follow directions with attention to detailPleasant manner and ability to relate well to people of all agesNeat presentation with no excessive tattoos or facial piercingsOutgoing personalityStrong public speaking abilityAble to work effectively with different groups of people even under stressful and time sensitive conditionsNaturalist training or similar knowledge preferredPrevious experience in travel industry preferredPrevious experience in dealing with groups of people preferredSound driving skills and clean driving recordBackground check requiredQualifications RequiredAt least 23 years of age and possess a Valid Drivers license – CDL with passenger endorsement is preferred but NOT mandatoryAble to provide a clean Motor Vehicle ReportAble to pass a UA Drug TestPossess a valid DOT medical card, or be willing and able to obtain one after hireAble to pass a DOT Physical, and lift baggage weighing up to 50 lbsAble to work flexible schedule through the full season of operations, including weekendsAble to travel overnight away from home for multiple nightsCovid vaccinatedPlease note that applications without the above qualifications in place must be willing to get the above qualifications upon employment.
