The Utah State Board of Education (USBE) is looking for an innovative, collaborative and evidence-based Educational Leadership team member to envision and oversee initiatives to support principals and principal supervisors. This individual will also be responsible for collaborating across stakeholder groups in supporting leaders. The Educational Leadership Specialist will plan, develop, promote, implement, and evaluate initiatives in this area and facilitate statewide professional learning for leaders. They will also coordinate with colleges, universities and other educational institutions to improve the pre-service and in-service education and administrators.
Principal Duties
As a Educational Leadership Specialist, you will:
Plan, guide, and engage USBE leadership to further behaviors on and knowledge of leadership and continuous improvement.
Collaborate with USBE staff to create, implement, and monitor programs designed to maximize school impact on student achievement.
Define and execute strategies in support of school leadership and continuous improvement efforts.
Implement and provide technical assistance for legislation and regulations related to leadership.
Coordinate with staff in implementing the USBE Strategic Plan to ensure actions further the goals of student learning.
Provide assistance, coaching and consultation to education stakeholders regarding leadership such as evaluation, mentoring, supervision, continuous improvement, and change management.
Remain current with the scholarship, pedagogy, and theoretical underpinnings of educational leadership.
Recommend, advocate and/or implement, new and/or changes to existing, policies, procedures, laws, or regulations.
Organize meetings, conferences, or workshops.
Coordinate with educational institutions, other state agencies, and community organizations to develop and improve joint educational programs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will possess:
An administrative license.
At least 5 years of principal experience.
An advanced degree in educational leadership or related field.
