Position : Greenhouse Labor – Blairsville, PA
Job Description : Responsible duties associated with watering and environmental conditions for successful plant growth.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Watering PlantsAssembling potting trays (putting pots in trays), hanging pots and caged pots.Operating vents, fans and heaters to maintain proper growth environment in greenhouses.Loading plant trays onto shipping racks.Sweep, clean and organize greenhouse.Maintaining watering hoses, pipes and nozzles.Transport plants from one greenhouse to another.Unloading plant trays into greenhouses.Identify and pull weeds, remove dead pots and cull plants not fit for sale.Mow grass and general grounds maintenance.Assist with basic greenhouse maintenance activities.Any other common duties associated with a greenhouse/nursery.Assist with and/or perform additional duties as required by operating needs of the company as directed by management.SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Education and Experience: None.Licenses and/or Certificates: None.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.Ability to take and follow directions and ability to work with little to no supervision.Ability to meet the expected efficiencies identified while being safe and accurate.Ability to stand on concrete or other surfaces for long periods of time.Safely use tools and equipment.Ability to wear gloves and other safety devices as required.Ability to operate and use greenhouse tools and equipment.WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Working Conditions: Both indoor and outside work environments. Occasionally exposed to extreme cold and hot temperatures, wet or humid conditions and outdoor weather conditions.Risk/Safety Conditions: Moving mechanical parts and machinery, electrical shock, vibration, airborne particles, loud noise levels, high temperatures, hazardous materials.Essential Physical Activities: Walking, sitting, hearing, seeing up close, seeing far away, talking, prolonged standing, finger movement, repetitive motions, depth perception, regularly lift 50 pounds, occasionally lift 60 pounds, climbing, crawling, stooping, crouching and wearing gloves and dust masks.DISCLAIMER: The information on this description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this job title.
