Job Objective

Define industrial relations strategy in line with overall business objectives; Liaise with different businesses to define the baselines for cordial labour relations; Direct contract negotiation and administration, employee productivity, engagement and training in the support of organization’s labour relations strategy
Build strong business partnerships with the labour organization, company representatives, community and external stakeholders
Responsible for ensuring statutory compliance and providing leadership in trade union relations and labour law related issues

Roles and Responsibilities

Strategic Roles and Responsibilities
Industrial Relations Philosophy & Strategy
Articulate and communicate the Employee Relations & IR philosophy and strategy for the Group in line with the overall HR strategy and business priorities
Prepare annual budget for Industrial Relations at the Group level and seek approval of the GCHRO to finalize budget; Monitor adherence to budgets at the group level and address budget overruns, if any
HR Strategy
Support the Head Group- IR in the IR/ER strategy
Ensuring adherence to all applicable labour legislations

Participate in the various governance committees to share insights from an IR/ER expertise perspective and help devise action plans basis audit findings; Oversee implementation and adherence to the action plans
Cultivate strategic relationships with stake holders and effectively leverage them for value additions to Adani
Participate in formulation of plans to further build the Adani brand and position it as an employer of choice

IR Policy and Framework
Define framework and policy (structure, composition, frequency of meetings and objectives) for establishment of IR councils across different sites to provide appropriate aid to labour
Periodically update and revise the framework as per changes in legal, statutory or ESG related governance norms

IR Process
Statutory Compliance
Support BUs in strategic IR initiatives to manage labour relations
Formulate and follow a periodic site visit plan to maintain an active information flow and deal with any probable IR related issues and ensure labour law compliances at sites
Governance of statutory compliance with regards to applicable labour legislations
Regularly oversee compliance to applicable organizational policies and regulations
Outsourced Manpower Management
Provide inputs/guidance for the formulation of policies & guidelines pertaining to outsourced manpower
Ensure closure and devise mitigation strategies for Non-compliances recorded during audit process.
Analytics
Identification and implementation of Analytical tools for enhanced decision making
Providing senior leadership with critical inputs through perusal of IR Analytics, Risk Analytics and Grievance Analytical data for enabling data driven decision making
Advisory
Proactively track evolving changes in varied labour laws and underlying Acts; Create and implement a communication plan to provide timely information pertaining to the changes to all the BU HR Heads
Provide advice to businesses on various labour issues from time to time proactively as well as when requested by sites/ plant

Collaborate with GCHRO and BU HR Heads to formulate and continually validate the IR & ER Strategy and Outsourced manpower strategy
Active participation in varied forums and conferences to explore emerging ER & IR management trends

Collaborate with different business stakeholders and other HR leadership team members to understand their manpower requirements as well as to ensure the Employee Relations at the sites and businesses are managed in a compliant and business-oriented manner
Interact with existing partners and consultants to reinforce working relationship, strengthen collaboration, track project deliveries and mitigate risks if any

Partner with Head of Governance to run periodic compliance checks to ensure all laws and protocols are being adhered to
Build strong relationships with government authorities, local communities and unions and leverage them for the organization’s benefit

Work alongside stakeholders from different functions (E.g.: IT, Shared services, finance) and seek support for deployment of IR initiatives

Interact with Security/ Admin/ Legal/ CSR teams to devise integrated approach in case of site issues

Qualifications
Job Profile

Educational Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree in Law/ Business Management/ Organizational Psychology or relevant field
PGD in Industrial Relations will be preferable
Experiences:
Minimum of 20 years of experience in the field of HR and at least 5 years of experience in a team leading role in a similar position for at least two units/ organizations
Preferable to have held previous role with oversight of large-scale operations across geographies; Experience with working in a multicultural environment
Experience in developing HR/ IR policies and procedures to ensure statutory compliance and exposure to HR risk management verticals
Strong knowledge of labour law, collective bargaining, contract management, union campaigns and organizational culture
Proven expertise in developing and implementing both dedicated and reactive labour relations strategy
Hands-on experience with grievance resolution
Experience managing operational budgets with exceptional planning and project management skills
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as an ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously to successful completion in a fast-paced environment
Robust understanding of employee life cycle management
Strong interpersonal skills for dealing with internal and external stakeholders
