We are one of a growing number of institutions in the nation offering an integrated dual-mission model that combines the rigor and richness of a first-rate teaching university with the openness and vocational programs of a community college.Utah Valley University is seeking Resident Leaders for The Upward Bound Summer Program. These are temporary summer positions. Under the direction of the Upward Bound Program Coordinator & Director, the Resident Leader chaperons and oversees high school students grades 9-12. Ensures the safety of students while on campus, in dorms, and on field trips. Supervises activities, presents prepared workshops, and runs study sessions. Oversees and leads student committees. Tracks student progress and class attendance. Tutors students when needed. Attends weekly Friday staff meetings.Training dates are scheduled for the end of May 2022. Employment dates are June 5- July 2.There are two shifts available:Shift 1: Monday through Thursday 1:00pm- 7:30pm and Fridays 12:00pm-2:30pm.Shift 2: Sunday through Thursday 7:00pm-12:00am and Fridays 1:15pm-3:30 pm.Required QualificationsGraduation with a high school diploma or GED and a minimum of two years of college education.Must be 21 years or older with valid drivers license to drive students during weekly field trips using state vehicles.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of policies and procedures in safety and ethical behavior.Interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.Ability to get along with different types of personalities.Physical RequirementsMust be able to walk students to and from apartments and classes, tutor students in various subjects.Benefits SummaryYou may be eligible for a 3 credit hour or 1 class tuition waiver after 6 consecutive months of employment and a minimum of 475 hours worked.
