The Utah Department of Workforce Services (DWS) is offering an exceptional opportunity to work within its Workforce Research and Analyst Division (WRA) as a Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Research Analyst. WRA is responsible for collecting data that measures labor market activity, working conditions and price changes in the economy as well as provide information about DWS programs and services.
This position may be filled as a career mobility if an internal applicant is selected.
Principle Duties
Employees in this job provide assistance in a variety of research projects and studies, especially in collection of data and completion of reports for management use. At this level employees are expected to:
Work with team members to ensure the Occupational Employment Statistics (OES) program for the State of Utah runs smoothly and that all deliverables in Utah’s cooperative agreement with the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) regarding this program are met.
Generate reports utilizing computer software as well as design.
Coordinate appropriate data collection via surveys in addition to engaging in some minor analysis.
Collect, edit and validate data.
Write articles.
Answer data requests.
Successfully complete other special projects and job duties as assigned.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for this position will have:
An advanced knowledge of Excel.
Economic survey work and/or data collection experience.
