All of this is achieved through the hard work, dedication and creativity of our close-knit team, to which we’re excited to add additional expertise and capability through this strategic hire.MVS is looking for a strategic CFO to build and lead world-class finance and accounting functions in support of and partnership with both Studio and portfolio company leadership. This is an exciting and dynamic role, involved in all aspects of the operations and decision making of the Studio, with the opportunity to have a significant impact on portfolio company operations as well, and the opportunity for personal upside tied to portfolio success.The Role: The CFO role is a strategic early hire for MVS, intended to amplify the contributions of our existing emphasis on thorough financial strategy and tactics. Reporting to the Studio CEO, the CFO will provide financial leadership to both MVS and its portfolio companies, with oversight of not only the day-to-day accounting and finance activities, but also of the application of solid financial analysis in support of all decision making processes, the implementation of best practices in financial reporting, and strategic and tactical support of fundraising efforts. The successful candidate will have a track record of creating value through entrepreneurial efforts, creative problem solving, exceptional analytical capabilities, strategic thinking extending beyond the traditional limits of the finance purview, and the ability to build and manage relationships facilitating efficient access to debt and equity financing.Responsibilities: Manage and optimize a complex financial ecosystem comprised of the Studio, LPs & GPs, external portfolio investments, internally incubated startups, and development projectsOversee day-to-day accounting and finance efforts at both the Studio and portfolio company levels to ensure continued application of best practices, systems, and controlsAct as strategic partner and advisor to both Studio and portfolio company leadership, creating value wherever neededAssist in financial analysis supportive of investment opportunity evaluationConsistently manage the timely delivery of high-quality financial reporting to Studio LPsIdentify and implement project capitalization strategies to magnify investment outcomesSupport and/or drive financing efforts (debt and equity) across the portfolioOversee the preparation and filing of Studio and portfolio federal/state/local tax returns and other filingsManage limited Studio-level operational activitiesActively contribute to new business ideas and developmentQualifications: 8+ years of experience in finance and accounting leadership in relevant industries (tech startup, real estate, venture capital, private equity, etc.)Exceptional analytical and financial modeling capabilitiesUnderstanding of accounting and finance best practices, and ability to implement and scale appropriate to the needs of early and growth-stage entitiesDebt and equity fundraising experienceSolid organizational skills with strong ability to utilize project management best practices to organize and prioritize tasksStrong attention to detail and discretionExcellent written and verbal communication skillsEntrepreneurial self-starter, able to work independently and zealous in effort to continually create valueSolid educational background in finance, accounting, business, or related field; top-tier graduate education preferredJob Type: Full-timeBenefits:401(k)Dental insuranceEmployee discountFlexible scheduleHealth insurancePaid time offParental leaveVision insuranceSchedule:Monday to FridaySupplemental Pay:Bonus payEducation:Master’s (Preferred)Work Location: One location
