We are looking to hire a R&D Executive Formulation & Processing Development , in our Skin Care category based in Mumbai:
Main Purpose
Unilever has a substantial South Asia Skin care business comprising varied formats like creams, lotions , talc , petroleum jelly etc. across important brands like Fair & lovely , Pond’s , Vaseline , Dove , Citra etc.
The current job description is for the incumbent would be responsible for
Process Rollouts for South Asia Product development for specific portfolios
The incumbent would be responsible for products, processes and co-development of technology for skincare. S(he) would be working on various regional projects comprising of Innovation, Value Creation and simplification programs. To bring alive the C4G model alive, the job needs continuous interaction with GDCs, cluster R&D teams, Global Processing, Consumer Technical Insights, Supply Chain, Brand Development, Consumer Marketing Insight, Legal, Regulatory & Supply Management teams.
In the C4G operating framework, the job provides ample scope to lead and deliver project targets OTIF.
Deliverables
It is expected that the incumbent, during the course of his/her work, will need to deliver as:
Processing Work stream leader South Asia : The process Engineer will lead development and delivery of skin care product opportunities, taking innovations from concept to consumer validation and through factory scale up. The position will be accountable for technical engineering, material scoping while implementing material design to UL manufacturing sites. The role will partner SC and suppliers to design and execute leading edge test methods and digital capabilities. The position is part of fast paced, dynamic team environment with real responsibility for business impact by delivering innovative products to market.
Develop processes to manufacture product solution developed Process development and technology transfer – Understanding how process designs are implemented through specification, construction, commissioning, trials and training Supplier & 3rd party management – Assessing supplier & 3rd party manufacturing process capabilities. Process Safety – Ensuring processing R&D maintains compliance with Unilever and external standards Delivering recommendations on handling, processing and scale-up of new raw materials and formulations. Be the Process workstream lead for capability development, SC support and smart process initiatives for south Asia skincare
Formulator
Drive all technical elements of Skin Care Innovations with highest delivered quality, OTIF against all project brief requirements. Ensuring compliance to Internal Unilever protocols, External regulatory environment, while developing product solutions with respect to commitment to safety, environment, claim support, specification management etc. Understanding the consumer habits and needs as required by the Project team while articulating the needs of business Working with GDC teams to align on innovation plans and ensure smooth delivery of the projects In close co-ordination with the Processing and supply chain teams, develop manufacturing processes to scale the product manufacture from lab to pilot to main plant. Maintain effective and timely communication of project status with regional/ global partners. The person would need to make decisions through proper assessment of the risks, aligning stakeholders on key issues/concerns to ensure OTIF launches. Contribute pro-actively in identifying & supporting value improvement opportunities for Skin care portfolio of products.
Key R&D Skills required
FORMULATION
(Working Knowledge)
Deep Understanding of formulation technologies within competitive framework
Understanding of ingredients, formulation, fragrance/flavour related to them
Understanding of basic regulatory and legal mandates for cosmetics
Effectively managing stability protocol and conditions
Smart Innovations – Delivering simple & cost-effective product innovations
PROCESSING SCIENCE (Working Knowledge)
Understanding of core design principles, Process characterization & engineering,
Applying principles of process chemistry on products
Can Scale-up formulations (Planning & Executing) from bench to Pilot Scale & from Pilot to
Main Plant levels and monitor the stability performance in line with the global stability protocol
Is independently able to support the Technology Roll-out to the Sourcing Units
Supports the Team in business savings agenda mainly qualifying alternate vendor (or 3P)
for manufacturing along with QA team.

Chemical engineer / M.Pharm ( Pharmaceutics) / MSc. Chemistry/ M.Tech
