Job Description : Student Records CoordinatorJOB SUMMARY AND OBJECTIVE:The Student Records Coordinator provides support to the Registrar’s Office and Associate Director of Student Services within the area of student records. The Transcript and Student Records Coordinator demonstrates excellent written and oral communication skills, advanced computer skills, and the ability to interact professionally with a variety of people.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Receive and analyze all student high school and college transcripts from other institutions, review courses completed, verify level, content and grading system. Evaluate transcripts for official and accreditation requirementsReview coursework for academic equivalency using college catalogs, course descriptions, syllabi and other materialsScan and upload incoming transcripts in the SIS databaseAwards credit for transfer credit workProvide communication to student and staff regarding results of transcript evaluationProvide assistance to students and staff in the interpretation of transfer credit policies, requirements and any related activitiesReceive, review and process all transcript requestsReceive, review and process all incoming education verificationsKnowledge of transcript procedures, grading systems, and course equivalenciesKnowledge of software used in student records including student information systems; word processing, electronic mail, internet skills, database management, and spreadsheet applicationsAccurately and efficiently use a variety of word processing and other software, spreadsheet and/or database programs to create/produce letters, reports, spreadsheets and other documentsEffective customer service communication and skills including; etiquette, math percentages and decimals, grammar and spelling using patience and courtesyUnderstand and follow oral and written directionsResponsible for tracking and maintaining accurate student filesProvides support for degree completionMaintains and follows FERPA and all other regulations regarding protection of student informationOther duties as assignedBEHAVIORS AND COMPETENCIES:Technical and Professional Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAchievement of technical and professional knowledge, skills, and abilities is high in position-related areas; demonstrates curiosity and keeps current with trends in areas of expertise.Communication SkillsEffectively listens, speaks, observes, and empathizes while showing appropriate assertiveness, confidence, and respect.
