Position : School Disease Investigator – Hawaii – Onsite position

Job Description : Complex professional work involved in the investigation, prevention, and control of communicable diseases within the school systemWork with both school officials and the state with the development and revision of guidance related to COVID 19 for schools and school districts within the state including testing, screening, outbreak information, reporting requirements, and general school-related questions.Ensures that the necessary treatment and control procedures are followed by (school system) student, teachers, and parents to prevent any further spread of disease.Submits and records case information in a disease reporting system to ensure accurate collection of data for evaluation, operational and statistical analysis.Perform other related duties as required work with both school officials and the state with the development and revision of guidance related to COVID 19 for schools and school districts within the state including testing, screening, outbreak information, reporting requirements, and general school-related questions.Conduct case investigations on infected students; documents case histories and infection sourcesAnswer disease related questionsKeep current with local school districts, national and international disease trends, and outbreaksProvides schools and school-based organizations with approved information about state isolation, testing, and COVID 19 related procedures, monitors compliance, and supports compliance with COVID 19 guidance.Produce qualitative and quantitative reports and tracing records for school officials, the school system leadership, and county and state health departments.Provide COVID 19 contacts with approved information about the quarantine procedures, and if appropriate, refer them to testing according to protocol and/or to a COVID-19 Care Resource Coordinator for students and parentsAdminister COVID-19 Testing – mouth swab/self-test.Vaccination related support and non-clinical staffing as authorization is expanded to children.Bachelor’s degree preferred in Public Health, heath administration, nursing, epidemiology, health sciences, education, health education, community health, emergency medical services, the social sciences, the biological sciences, or a closely related field.Experience in social service programs for children, public health in a school setting or childcare setting, a substitute teacher or working as a retired teacher.Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentPossess both problem solving and self-motivation skillsExcellent written and verbal communicationAble to work effectively and efficiently under pressureAbility to interact professionally with people and communities of various backgrounds with compassion and empathyExperience working on addressing child health or public health issues, including promoting child health through data analysis and application, planning, program development, community partnerships, organizational policies and practicesAbility to work standard office hours (Hawaii Standard Time – 7:45am – 5:00pm)Ability to apply communicable disease intervention techniques such as interviewing, investigation, screening, and surveillance.Ability to maintain your composure, using diplomacy and effectively de-escalate hostile encountersProficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)May travel locally based on jurisdictionWork experience in school / educations environmentExperience in public health programsPrevious work with schools and or community or faith-based organizations with outreach to students and parentVerbal and written communication skills in both English and other languages (Cebuano, Chinese (simplified and traditional), Chuukese, Hawaiian, Ilocano, Japanese, Korean, Kosraen, Marshallese, Pohnpean, Samoan, Spanish, Tagalog, Tongan, Vietnamese and Yapese).Previous work with COVID-19 mitigation or vaccination effortsExperience in data entryJob Types: Full-time, ContractPay: $55,000.00 – $70,000.00 per yearBenefits:401(k)401(k) matchingDental insuranceHealth insuranceLife insurancePaid time offVision insuranceSchedule:8 hour shiftLicense/Certification:Driver’s License (Preferred)Work Location: One location
