PURPOSE
The Human Resources Generalist will provide administration and management support of the day-to-day activities associated with employee relation issues, performance management, staffing, employee records, compensation, onboarding, recognition, employee assistance, and benefits administration. Incumbent will provide support in the overall process of the Human Resources department.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Reports To: Senior Director of Human Resources
Supervises: May supervise up to 5 FTE
Liaison To: N/A
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Prepare and review compensation and benefit package options
Conduct investigations of misconduct and compliance related concerns
Administer health, retirement, and life insurance programs
Assist managers and supervisors in in implementation of training and development plans
Update employee records with new hire information and/or changes in employment status
Maintain organizational charts and detailed job descriptions along with salary records
Forecast hiring needs and ensure recruitment process runs smoothly
Assist in developing and implementing HR policies
Process employee inquiries and respond timely
Assist with open enrollment process
Assist in facilitating benefits fair
Plan quarterly and annual performance review sessions
Provide necessary reports for allocation/billing charges
Responsible for hiring, monitoring, coaching, staff development, evaluations, dispute resolution, progressive discipline

NECESSARY SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Maintain current knowledge of employee benefits options
Remain current on applicable laws
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to work independently and prioritize workload
Ability to organize, plan, and maintain confidential records
Ability to search, select, compile, and summarize data and information
Ability to compare data for completeness, identify any discrepancies or inaccuracies, and make the necessary corrections
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education, experience, skills)
Associate degree
2 years’ related experience, including employee relations
2 years’ supervisory experience
Substitution for Associate Degree
High School Diploma and
4 years’ related experience
UNUSUAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OR RESTRICTIONS
The majority of work is performed in a professional office setting and is generally sedentary, requiring routine walking, standing, bending, and carrying of items weighing less than 40 lbs. Travel on small aircraft or ferry may be required.
