Job Description : Special Olympics Washington is currently seeking a Program Manager to join the team in Southwest Region (98501)

About the Role:
This position focuses on the overall growth and management of programming within the Southwest Region (multiple counties from Pierce out to Clallam and down to Cark counties). Special Olympics Washington has 13 Areas within Washington State, with 4 major Areas being within the Southwest Region. Areas are managed by volunteers who are deployed locally to implement and execute on key priorities and growth strategies on behalf of the organization. This position is expected to manage the overall operation of each individual Area which includes priorities such as athlete recruitment and retention, finance management, team fundraising management, supervision and training of volunteers, development of community partner relationships, communication and support of teams and other important duties listed below. This position is crucial to catalyzing the Special Olympics Washington movement and programming in this specific geographic region.

What you’ll do:

Provide leadership, support and strategy to existing Area Director and other volunteer Area Leadership positions within the Northwest Region
Work with existing Area Leadership Team members to prioritize, recruit and train vacant Area Leadership Team member positions; Manager is expected to act as interim Area Director until position is filled
Responsible for management of all Area budgets and fundraising plans within the Northwest Region; this includes tracking of individual team fundraising to ensure expenses are covered
Work with Area Director and Finance Coordinator (as applicable) to create robust budget and fundraising plan for each Area within geographic region, this includes management of individual team budgets and fundraising plans
Actively review and manage monthly expenses and expense reports for all Areas within Region; this includes review and correction of area profit/loss statements, processing purchase orders, submitted invoices and manage relationships with new and existing vendors
Work with each Area Leadership Team to drive multi-year strategies and targets with emphasis on growth and retention of participants within their Area, as well as any new initiative implementation (health, leadership)
Create and implement new ways for Area Directors to better collaborate with one another (best practices, new strategies)
Partner with Special Olympics Washington development department and Area Leadership Teams to recruit community partners and sponsors to support local athlete participation and access
Serve as a liaison between Area Leadership Teams and other Special Olympics Washington staff
Support Senior Region Sports Managers in communication of seasonal registration paperwork and with individual teams to help drive understanding and participation
Responsible for educating and prioritizing concept of Unified Leadership within Area Leadership Teams and teams
Contribute to the development of resource materials for Area Leadership Teams to enhance overall Area operations, fundraising and outreach
Collaborate with Sports and Operations staff members to develop resources for new and existing program/sports teams to be successful
Work with other Program Managers to implement and maintain Area Leadership Team and key volunteer recognition strategy
Help create and lead Area Leadership course material for annual Leadership Conference with emphasis on athletes and volunteers leading sessions
Collaborate with other Program Managers to develop program/team succession and transition plan for key volunteers
Organize consistent communication with each Area Director
Work with other Program Managers to organize monthly Area Director calls
Organize bi-weekly communication sent to Coaches, Athletes, and families for Areas within your geographic region
Responsible for athlete onboarding and program placement within the region

Our Perfect Candidate

Education and Experience:

Associates Degree in Communication, Business Management, or related field; or two years equivalent work experience
Must be proficient in Microsoft suite tools, namely word and excel
Basic knowledge of budget and finance management
Aptitude for taking on challenges with the ability to deal with conflict constructively

Required Skills and Training:

Team player and collaborator
Must be able to multi-task
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
Occasional travel in state
Occasional expectation to work weekends and evenings, as needed
This is a full-time, exempt position working remote but needs to be located in the southwest region of Washington.
