Position : Cancer Care Clerical Associate
Job Description : NOTE: This position is open to applicants who are already permanent in the title of Clerical Associate or have filed for the open competitive exam #1548 – Clerical Associate. Proof of filing is required at time of application.
The Fire Department, City of New York (FDNY), seeks a full-time Cancer Care Clerical Associate in the Bureau of Health Services. Reporting directly to the Project Coordinator, the successful candidate will: Be responsible for providing administrative support to physicians assigned to the oncology department and obtaining most up to the date patient notes on a daily basis. The candidate will maintain accurate files and medical records, scan cancer care related documents, file authorizations appropriately and monitor inventory and order office supplies. The candidate will act as the first level of contact, by phone or email, for all WTC cancer care related questions from members and external providers regarding patient upcoming appointments and authorizations.
Minimum Qual Requirements
Qualification Requirements
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State’s department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of satisfactory clerical experience.
Skills Requirement
Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.
Preferred Skills
Basic clerical and computer experience is required. Knowledge of clinical document types is a plus.
