The Utah State Board of Education (USBE) invites you to consider an opportunity where you can strive to make a difference everyday. USBE is currently looking for a dedicated educator to fill an Educational Specialist position to work with a team of specialists who support districts and charters in improving Career and Technical Education (CTE).
Principal Duties
This position requires extensive understanding of Utah Career and Technical Education pathways, licensing, and instructional practices. The duties include:
Providing leadership as a statewide expert in the development and implementation of CTE programs and pathways.
Demonstrating elements of effective instruction and leadership; effective written and oral communication; and the ability to link current knowledge with new ideas and processes.
Planning, development, promotion, and evaluate district & charter CTE programs.
Presenting complex ideas and knowledge to small and large groups.
Collaborating with colleges, universities, and other education institutions to improve the pre-service and in-service education of teachers, administrators, and other school personnel.
Leading innovation and collaborative efforts within CTE and other partners.
Providing and organizing training for CTE instructors and administrators.
Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations and/or agency rules, standards, and guidelines, etc.
Travel to various locations in and out of state for professional learning and/or professional meetings.
Facilitating meetings with small and large decision-making groups.
Serving on committees and completing other duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for this position is someone who has:
5 years of experience as a secondary classroom CTE instructor.
5 years experience as a local lead advisor to a career and technical student organization chapter.
Successful secondary education leadership experience.
Successful experience rolling out new and innovative classroom/pathway program(s).
The ability to collaborate well with others and is excited about working towards common CTE and USBE goals.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in finding opportunities and solutions for teachers.
Excellent technical and communication skills with an understanding of current MS Office, Adobe and Canvas software.
Preference
Preference will be given to individuals who have:
A BS Degree in secondary education with a current Skilled and Technical Education endorsement.
A current secondary educator license.
