Job Summary
The Custodian is responsible for the cleaning of the Tribe’s Dena’ina Wellness Center (DWC) to include pharmacy, medical records, billing, radiology, laboratory, medical exam rooms, physical therapy treatment rooms, dental operatory rooms, instrument sterilization rooms, elevators. Responsible for maintaining compliance with the Infection Control Program and the CARF accreditation standards.
Essential Functions
Daily Tasks
Empty all trash cans and replace liners. Wipe down outside/inside of garbage cans as needed.
Mop all floors.
Transfer Biohazard Waste to the proper storage room.
Thoroughly clean bathrooms, sinks, toilets and mirrors twice a day.
Clean all bathroom sinks, toilets and mirrors.
Replenish paper products, refill soap dispensers in bathrooms.
Replenish extra supplies under sinks.
Clean tables in break rooms and chairs.
Clean Elevator inside and outside including doors.
Clean all Glass inside doors and windows.
Clean all door knobs and handles.
Clean sinks in break rooms and coffee stations with disinfectant.
Ensure doors and windows are locked when finished; security of the buildings is a priority.
Weekly Tasks
Vacuum and mop all floors.
Spot clean carpets if needed.
Wipe window sills and woodwork.
Clean overhead vents and wall vents.
Clean microwave in break rooms.
Semi-Annual Tasks
Wash windows, screens and casings.
Clean grounds, sidewalks, etc. in fall and spring.

Qualifications
Education
High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
Experience
Previous Custodian experience.
License/Certification
Current First Aid & CPR Certification, or within 90 days of hire.
Valid Alaska Driver’s License and must remain insurable under the Tribe’s policy.
Biohazard disposal training, or within 30 days of hire.
Training on the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment, or within 30 days of hire.
Special Skills
Must have a high degree of personal integrity.
Knowledge of proper cleanup of infectious communicable diseases, and understanding of the procedures of an Infectious Control Program.
Knowledge and understanding of HIPAA and 42 CFR.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to work nights and weekend.
Preferred
OSHA trained.
Blood borne pathogen training and knowledge.
Knowledge and experience working with Alaska Native/American Indian populations.
