Position : Human Resources Generalist

Job Description : The Human Resources (HR) Generalist performs a variety of day-to-day support and administrative services focusing on information systems, as well as provides support in the areas of employee benefits, recruiting, onboarding, and compliance. The HR Generalist works closely with other members of the Finance and Operations team in support of the overall mission of the College. The HR Generalist must be employee-focused and have excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.

Characteristics, Duties, and Responsibilities
Initiates, maintains, and updates employee records and other relevant information in HR system in a timely fashion.Compiles, analyzes, and generates customized reports for administrative and external sources.Serves as a liaison and information resource for faculty, staff, and adjuncts; consults with others on problems, and determines final resolution of problems and issues.Conducts training sessions regarding HR procedures, policies, and processes; ensures HR process documents are up to date.Supports the HR operations as needed by performing a variety of confidential functions.Performs group data updates, researches any data discrepancies, and reports on findings.Participates in benefits administration, including annual open enrollment, COBRA notifications, and claims resolution.Assists in the coordination of staffing and recruitment processes including utilizing applicant tracking system.Conducts new employee orientations and facilitates onboarding.Acts as a liaison to departments facilitating the recruitment and hiring of student workers.Responsible for maintenance of time and attendance system and auditing of related records.Prepares routine and regular reporting and completes ad hoc data requests (e.g., staff actions list, EEO data, IPEDS, etc.).Conducts data analysis/audits HR data such as compensation, employee classification, benefits data, etc., as directed.Routinely seeks and/or recommends improvements to internal processes and system procedures.Provides administrative support in such areas as I-9 maintenance, transcript oversight and audits, and position creation in the College’s ERP system.Remains current on technology platforms as they evolve and adapts to changes as necessary.Maintains the College organizational charts.Assists with special projects to improve the quality of HR services.Performs other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required.

Experience
Two to four years relevant experience in Human Resources required. Experience with human resource information systems (HRIS) preferred.

Possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.Ability to protect confidential information and communicate with discretion in all matters related to employees and internal processes.Advanced skills in Microsoft Office products and skilled in information technology.Ability to grasp concepts and procedures quickly.Continually seeks ways to improve work processes.Strong detail orientation and ability to multi-task with little direct supervision.Ability to work under pressure with multiple interruptions and meet deadlines.Focuses on the accuracy and details of work produced in order to mitigate problems.Knowledge of human resources principles, practices and processes.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
This position’s duties are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, based on the activity scheduled.
Some physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
Minimal travel required.

Terms of Employment
Full Time. Flexible schedule to meet department needs. Some evening, weekends, and extended hours will be required. Ability and willingness to travel on short notice to all on and off- campus sites as needed by the college. Employee must establish primary residency in New Jersey within one year of appointment unless an exemption applies.
