Job Description : SUMMARY: The Production Manager provides leadership and directs manufacturing personnel in the efficient, high quality manufacture and on time production of the company’s products in accordance with safety and quality standards. Aligns closely with, sales, finance and the operations team in support of the overall goals, objectives, mission and vision of the organization.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Lead and oversee all production supervisory staff including but not limited to development, training, coaching, and mentoring.Coordinate activities with all other functions of the organization and suppliers to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.Review production and operating reports and directs the resolution of operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.Promote and foster the company’s top performer culture; Design, implement, foster, and maintain continuous improvement programs in support of best practices and efficient and effective manufacturing processes.Maintain a clear understanding of activities occurring on each shift including downtime, scrap, repairs, and others. Work in tandem with other crews and shifts to maintain effective channels of communication and accountability, to ensure seamless production activities on a 24×7 basis.Lead, participate or liaise in the documentation of Operations procedures, processes, standards, and any other activity requiring documentation and formality.Collaborate in decision making concerning layout, size and range of products and services, and the design and organization of work processes.Balance and oversee operational activities including but not limited to production, rework, sampling, preparation of upcoming mold, equipment and supplies, screw cleaning, color consolidation.Take ownership of and strongly drive an employee suggestion initiative; work with Human Resources and others to ascertain highly effective results.Drive Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) including changeovers, preplanning of activity over the subsequent 36-hour period with molds, dies and equipment, accountability for crew’s individual and collective scrap generation.Maintain current knowledge of and effectively utilize various databases and IQMS system. Train and assist crew in the effective utilization of same. Input data in a timely and accurate manner and facilitate reporting.Address employee relations issues on varying levels; engage with Human Resources on any issue that extends beyond minor daily activity. May include policy violations, conflicts of interest, and personality and behavioral issues among others.Lead by example to drive all components of Suppliers Audit for Food Excellence (SAFE). Advise employees of non-conformance to SAFE. Promote proper chemical control. Conduct or direct internal housekeeping audits.Enforces all safety rules and regulations as required by local, state, and federal government mandates, including all rules established by plant management and the plant safety committee.POSITION REQUIREMENTS: · 7-10 years experience in a related industry or discipline with focus on operational excellence. Experience in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering very beneficial.· Minimum 5 years of experience in a management role.· Intermediate to advanced level technical ability. Particular expertise in ERP and or CRM systems, Microsoft Windows and Office Suite including Power Point, and Internet.· Ability to work a non-traditional, progressive work schedule.To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies: · Analytical – Designs work flows and procedures.· Problem Solving – Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Develops alternative solutions; Works well in group problem solving situations.· Project Management – Communicates changes and progress; Completes projects on time and budget; Manages project team activities.· Customer Service – Manages difficult or emotional customer situations; Responds to requests for service and assistance; Meets commitments.· Interpersonal – Focuses on solving conflict, not blaming; Maintains confidentiality; Listens to others without interrupting; Keeps emotions under control.· Verbal Communication – Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; Demonstrates group presentation skills; Participates in meetings.· Written Communication – Writes clearly and informatively; Varies writing style to meet needs; Presents numerical data effectively; Able to read and interpret written information.· Change Management – Develops workable implementation plans; Communicates changes effectively; Builds commitment and overcomes resistance; Prepares and supports those affected by change.· Delegation – Delegates work assignments; Matches the responsibility to the person; Sets expectations and monitors delegated activities; Provides recognition for results.· Leadership – Inspires and motivates others to perform well; effectively influences actions and opinions of others; Inspires respect and trust; Accepts feedback from others; Displays passion and optimism; Mobilizes others to fulfill the vision.· Business Acumen – Understands business implications of decisions; Displays orientation to profitability; Demonstrates knowledge of market and competition; Aligns work with strategic goals.EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: 4-year degree required; emphasis in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Business, or Quality strongly preferred.FOOD SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES: Monitor and verify activities to ensure that finished goods and raw materials coming in and out of the facility meet food safety standards in addition to quality standards.Conduct quarterly PRP audits to ensure food safety management system integrity and report results to the Food Safety Team LeaderParticipate in the Food Safety Approval Team, making decisions to support the food safety management systemEnsure production employees are held accountable to food safety expectationsComply with all company food safety and quality assurance procedures and data documented correctly at all times.Report any product or process failures that could impact food safety of manufactured product to Quality.SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES: Mold Rite has a strong emphasis on safety in the workplace.
