The Yosemite Archives are looking for four candidates who have a passion for history/archives and work well together. The goal will be to conduct copyright research on 3,000 maps/plans/drawings; digitize those items in public domain or orphaned works; enter the metadata for each item into an excel spreadsheet; inventory each at file drawer so they originals have intellectual control. Then we will publish high resolution scans of the drawings on NPGallery website. It takes two people to digitize the fragile maps/plans/drawings. We will have four leads: digitizing, copyright research, metadata entry, and organizing and inventorying the at file drawers and properly labeling them for intellectual control. Every team member will rotate throughout the day working on all four of these aspects – the leads will check the quality of work for the other team members and make sure work is consistent and correct. We will train all team members in how to conduct this work and the park archivist/supervisor will work closely with the team. Team members will share housing in El Portal, which is about five minutes from the archives where the work will be completed.
