Job Summary
Come join our team! We are looking for someone with website design experience who will help us to create new pages and update current pages of the Utah Education Policy Center’s (UEPC) website. As our web designer, you will update and maintain our media-rich website using WordPress.
Responsibilities
Design, implement and manage UEPC’s website using the University of Utah’s WordPress Theme
Update our website to make it a user-friendly and attractive multipage website that hosts text, interactive media, and graphics.
Maintain the website, including posting new events, reports, and employees as needed, and troubleshooting any errors.
Ensure new content on website adheres to Section 508 compliance standards. Make recommendations to increase compliance.
Timely completion of tasks
Ensure accuracy and quality of work
Minimum Qualifications
Must be a current University of Utah undergraduate student
Detail oriented with strong organization skills
Experience using WordPress
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
Takes initiative, is self-motivated with a desire to learn
Positive attitude towards all types of projects
Service and teamwork oriented
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite
Ability to think logically, and communicate clearly and diplomatically
Enthusiastic about job and takes pride in work
Preferences
An understanding of how to embed media (including videos and interactive modules) into a WordPress website
Familiar with industry best practices including: writing for the web, usability testing and methodologies, search engine optimization, accessibility, website migration processes, etc.
