Job Description : Recruitment Information

This posting is for the State of Hawaii, Department of Budget and Finance, Budget, Program Planning and Management (BPPM). Position is located on the island of Oahu, Downtown Honolulu. Salary: Starting at $5,178.00 per month, salary commensurate with education and experience As a condition of employment with the State of Hawaii, each qualified candidate who has been given a conditional offer of employment must show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination and shall be fully vaccinated by his/her/their employment start date. Duties Summary

The position conducts research and develops recommendations about issues that may have statewide impact in SMA; attends various gatherings at community forums and meetings; routinely monitors state program operations, services and initiatives directly or indirectly related to assigned SMA; researches policy trends and issues as well as tracks legislative actions, which directly or indirectly impacts assigned SMA. Prepares recommendations for consideration by the Director of Finance and the Governor regarding policy and/or legislative changes to ensure alignment with the Administration’s priority objectives and strategic initiatives.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Recommended Qualifications A. Knowledge: Knowledge of the Administration’s policies and agenda; and State office policies, practices and procedures. B. Skills/Abilities: Skills/Abilities to maintain excellent business practices, communications and organizational skills; work independently and collaboratively; process multiple sources of information and discern pertinent and relevant data; communicate in a clear and succinct manner through various channels of communication; maintain professional and positive attitude with a high level of initiative; maintain professional appearance and demeanor; and maintain regular attendance. C. Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university. D. Experience: Three and one-half (3 1/2) years of professional, administrative, analytical or other responsible work experience which demonstrated the ability to deal effectively with fellow workers, business contacts and/or the general public, and to recognize, analyze and resolve management and operational problems. Such experience should demonstrate ability to elicit informtion orally and in writing; read, comprehend, interpret and evaluate technical subjects, analyses or reports; and understand State, Federal, and County governments and respective legislative process.
