Job Summary
Areté and Denton House are seeking an experienced and energetic VP of People & Culture to join our team. This newly formed position will be responsible for providing strategic guidance and direction to the Executive Team, helping to position the organization as an employer of choice within the industry. They will partner with the Executive Team on organizational development, strategic utilization of employees, employment branding, talent management and development, and overall employee experience. This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer.
Responsibilities

Collaborates with executive leadership to define the organization’s long-term mission and goals; identifies ways to support this mission through talent management
Be a trusted advisor and business partner to the company’s senior leaders, functioning as the expert on people and organizational design and providing guidance on sometimes sensitive employee matters
Identifies key performance indicators for the organization’s human resource and talent management functions; assesses the organization’s success and market competitiveness based on these metrics
Review and make recommendations to senior leaders for the improvement of policies, procedures, and practices, effectively addressing business needs with innovative solutions
Envision and execute strategies for recruiting and retaining high potential employees
Establish competitive and equitable pay practices supported by market and industry research
Identify needs and opportunities related to training and development and ensure that effective training is created and delivered to employees
Provide strategic oversight of all employee benefit programs
Partner with insurance brokers, advisors, and vendors to ensure a competitive total rewards package
Responsible for organizational compliance with federal and state laws pertaining to human resources
Collaborate with corporate counsel in employment law matters
Define and lead employee engagement initiatives
Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices by attending conferences and educational opportunities and participating in professional organizations
Monitor budget allocations, expenditures, and related financial activities of the department
Oversee programs and events that reward employees and support an inclusive and enjoyable company culture

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, business, or business-related field.
Minimum of 10 years experience in the role of a human resource, with at least five years in an HR leadership role
Proven experience leading and building teams and creating a world-class culture
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with a high level of empathy and emotional intelligence
Comfortable presenting and mediating issues with colleagues at all levels
Knowledge of employment law and human resources best practice
Agile and able to work in a fast-paced fluid environment
SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification preferred

Office and Travel Requirements

This person is expected to work primarily within our Salt Lake City office.
This person must be able to periodically travel to satellite offices and projects
