Are you a motivated insurance claims professional interested in serving the State of Utah by handling a variety of unique and interesting claims? Join our team as a State Risk Insurance Claims Adjuster!
Principal Duties
As a State Risk Insurance Claims Adjuster, you will:
Adjust property claims related to: fire, flood, lightning, wind, theft, earth movement, vandalism, embezzlement, business interruption, social engineering, auto property, etc.
Adjust liability claims related to: auto liability, civil rights, employment, professional malpractice, premises liability, bodily injury, death, third-party property damage, construction defects, etc.
Analyze coverage under the Utah Risk Fund Coverage Agreements and the State’s excess insurance policies.
Consult with and provide policy coverage training to covered entities’ management and staff consistent with applicable state and federal laws, policies, and procedures.
Apply principles of the Governmental Immunity Act and the Unfair Claims Practices Act.
Coordinate coverage with all excess insurance policies.
Requirements
To be considered for this position you must:
Be licensed to drive in the state of Utah.
Hold a Utah Property/Casualty Insurance Adjuster license or obtain one within 1 year of hire (the Division will cover the costs of certification training and testing).
The Best Qualified Candidate
The best qualified candidate for this position will have at least 5 years of property/casualty insurance claims adjusting experience.
Additional Preferences
Preference may be given to applicants with a college degree, additional years of relevant experience, a current Utah Property/Casualty Insurance Adjuster license, and/or one or more professional insurance industry designations, such as CPCU, AIC, CIC, etc.

The Agency/Division
The Division of Risk Management provides property, liability, and auto coverage, claims administration, and loss control services to the participating entities of the Risk Management Fund. Among them are all state agencies, all public school districts, all public institutions of higher education, and many of the public charter schools.

Physical Requirements
Work requires physical exertion such as long periods of standing, walking over rough terrain or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, lifting moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) or similar activities.
Working Conditions
Risks which require the use of special safety precautions and/or equipment, e.g. conducting investigations on rooftops, busy roadways, structurally unsound buildings. May require wearing a hard hat or other protective equipment.
