The Utah Department of Health is looking for an Office Director to lead, coordinate, and manage the Bureau of Children with Special Health Care Needs (CSHCN) , which employs approximately 94 individuals and houses 15 programs. The mission of the CSHCN Office Director is to improve the health and quality of life for children with special health care needs, and their families, through early screening and detection, data integration, care coordination, education, intervention, and life transitions. You will be responsible for administrative oversight of the state Title V Services to Children with Special Health Care Needs (CSHCN) program. This is a public health program that works to promote the optimal health and functioning of Utah’s children and youth with special health needs.
Some remote work available
Must reside in Utah or be moving to Utah within 30 days of start date.
Principal Duties
Provide leadership and direction to the 15 CSHCN programs.
Supervise and be responsible for the planning, forecasting, oversight and approval of the CSHCN budget, system planning, policy and program development.
Collaborate with the Maternal and Child Health Office Director, HHS leadership, HHS programs, other state and community agencies to assure that goals and outcomes for children and youth with special health needs and their families are met.
Participate with the national Title V network of programs and lead the MCH/CSHCN Title V block grant work, maintenance and annual reviews.
Perform balanced, analytical assessments concerning the implications of healthcare. reform at state and national levels regarding the development of CSHCN initiatives.
Participate in state and national level advisory groups as requested.
Leverage external resources and seek grants to support CSHCN priorities.
Lead the development of responses to policymakers and the public.
Develop, coordinate and maintain the CSHCN Office Strategic Plan and performance measure.
Provide support to the new Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) mission and vision.
Participate in statewide disability committees with the goal to improve quality, coordination, access and care.
Provide services as assigned by the supervisor in the furtherance of the Department/Office missions and goals of teaching, surveillance, patient care, outreach and public service.
Fulfill the mandates of the Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB) and Title V of the Social Security Act.
The Ideal Candidate
Must have at least (5) years of leadership and supervision experience.
Must have excellent organizing, daily operation, and execution skills.
Must have proficiency in use of computers, office equipment, and technology.
Must be attentive, prompt, and responsive to people, correspondence, due dates and deadlines.
Must have the ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously and get results.
Must have the ability to communicate information and ideas in a culturally sensitive, organized manner, clearly, concisely, verbally, and in writing.
Preference
May be given to applicants with:
Master’s degree or higher in Healthcare, Public Health, Administration, Counseling (i.e. social work) or other related fields.
Leadership experience in government.
Grant writing and application experience.

Working Conditions:
The typical office setting for this job is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated. However, you may encounter some risks that are associated with any office setting, for example, the safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
Standard Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Some remote work available
Physical Requirements:
Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check.
