Studies Weekly creates a full science curriculum for elementary students for use by school districts across the nation. You’ll get to work closely with other Curriculum Architects as well as a dedicated content development team where you’ll get to see your creative ideas come to life. Studies Weekly offers a fun and rewarding place for experienced elementary teachers who want to pursue a rewarding alternative career.Summary – The Science Curriculum Architect is primarily responsible for creating and maintaining student and teacher science curriculum materials, both in print and online.Do you love helping K-1 kids learn?Do you love writing lesson plans?Do you love science?Do you love working in a professional collaborative environment?Do you love to be creative?If yes, then this is the position for you!Primary Tasks –The Curriculum Architect provides the vision, direction, and content ideas for the development of grade-level curriculumCreates new materials, activities, and assessments for Students and Teachers for print and online (including digital resources)Translates science standards into efficient and effective lesson plans. Able to work within design and development guidelines.Designs curriculum by building new publications through the analysis of existing materials and determining what can be reused and what new materials are needed.Works with the development teams to ensure all materials are on schedule and appropriate for the grade level and age of students. This includes text, video, images, illustrations, and more.Utilizes Studies Weekly processes and software to ensure the timely development and quality of products throughout the development pipeline. Able to maintain design and development timelines.Job Requirements –This position requires a self-starter, someone who takes ownership for their work and doesn’t have to always be directed.Experience with early childhood developmental practices (theory, pedagogy)Demonstrable experience with standards, curriculum design, and creation of resourcesStrong background in science content at the elementary level.Ability to create lesson plans against state and national (NGSS) standards.Knowledgeable about the Next Generation Science standards and associated strategies (phenomenon-driven pedagogy, Engineering Design Process, 3-Dimensional Learning, etc.)Have a passionate desire to help elementary-aged students learn science in creative, hands-on ways.Willing to think out-of-the-box and find innovative ways to engage students in scienceWorks well with others in a dynamic office environmentTeam collaboration skills (willingness to talk, share, work together towards common goals)Physical Demands –The employee is required to talk and hear. Often, this position requires the employee to stand, sit, bend, stoop, crawl, kneel, ascend and descend stairs. Also to reach with arms and hands, and use hands and fingers to feel, handle, and manipulate keyboard keys. The employee is also required to lift up to 20 lbs.
