Job Description : About usThis role is also known as the “Associate Family Teacher.” Learn about the role in this video on youtube.com (copy and paste into your browser): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FqADgxokucEUse an evidence-based model called the Teaching Family Model to provide treatment to youth who are away from their homes and families for various reasons. No longer rely on your gut or your own intuition to know how to help, and no longer just babysit youth to make sure they eat, stay put, and don’t hurt themselves in a residential treatment setting; instead, teach youth the skills they need to change their lives and thrive in their natural homes, families, and communities and do so in a family-style home. Research reports the best place for children and youth to learn is in the home environment in a family setting with adults they trust. If you want to be part of a child’s life who currently can’t be with their own family and want to be one of those trusted adults, come heal and elevate lives through proven family solutions at Utah Youth Village/Alpine Academy. Be the embodiment of the saying from our founder, Lila Bjorklund, “Help one child, help generations to come.” See the following link to learn more about Alpine Academy and our available positions: https://alpineacademy.org/The core job duties: As an Associate Family Teacher, you will…Work on a team of behavioral specialists including 2-3 other Associates and 1-2 Family Teachers to help run a family-style home for up to 10 youth (including building relationships of trust, participating in family activities, helping children with homework, making appointments and helping children get to school and other appointments, making meals with the family, and all other activities which occur in a natural home setting).Proactively help youth learn social, academic, independent living, and self-help skills by following a treatment plan and looking for opportunities to teach and practice.Offer support to Family Teachers and actively engage in the culture of the home by completing delegated assignments, being present, offering relief, and having open communication about the youth and happenings of the homeWho are the Youth? The youth we serve are ages 12-18 who have generally been referred by their parents.
