Job Description : Symetra’s has an exciting opportunity to join our Symetra Investment Management team as an Investment Operations Analyst!

About the role

The Investment Operations Analyst will provide overall day-to-day investment operations support to the Company’s Investment Portfolio Managers, traders and Finance department. Your primary responsibilities will be supporting the activities of the Investment Operations team. You’ll be handling a variety of tasks pertaining to derivatives and bank loan operations, spanning trade settlement, reconciliations, reporting and data integrity analysis.

Symetra Investment Management (SIM) was established in 2019 and is a subsidiary of Symetra who is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sumitomo Life of Japan. SIM enables Sumitomo to invest in the U.S. markets and to expand in-house asset management capabilities. SIM is also an SEC-registered investment advisor providing third party investment management to institutional clients.

What you will do

Processing investment transactions. This may include entry of trades, paydowns and corporate actions into Symetra’s trade order management system. This may also include sending portfolio allocations to brokers, owning the confirmation/affirmation process and being responsible for ensuring that trades settle timely.
Ensuring the accuracy of data by performing reconciliations between the order management system, custodian, accounting agent and others. Work with appropriate parties to resolve identified issues.
Processing of secondary events in trade order management system. These may include, but are not limited to, corporate actions and paydowns on private placement securities. These may also include responsibilities associated with derivative collateral management.
Participate in special projects, support internal/external audit requests and other ad hoc requests.

Compensation

Salary Range: $49,000-$81,700 plus eligibility for annual bonus program
Who you are

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
6 months to 1+ years of experience in Investments or Finance related fields; including data analysis, reconciliation, and reporting.
Strong Excel skills are a strong plus (Please expect to take a timed 45-minute Excel Assessment if considered for this role)
Bank loan Derivative experience is strongly preferred
Bloomberg or other trade order management system or investment accounting system experience would be extremely helpful
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with an ability to communicate effectively across all partners
Analytical and detail-oriented, with an ability to multi-task effectively and work independently and/or in a team environment
Continuously exhibit a high level of motivation and initiative; results-focused
Strong desire to grow within the Investments and Asset Management field
Ability to adjust as needed to East Coast time zone or work East Coast business hours
