At Playland, our mission is to deliver heartfelt, remarkable experiences by creating the Playland story for all guests and visitors .Summary: The Payroll Coordinator will manage all payroll activities and ensure the timely and accurate payment of employee wages. The payroll coordinator will ensure the collection of all necessary information and documents, compute wages, and investigate and resolve any payroll issues or discrepancies.To be successful as a payroll coordinator you should be able to efficiently coordinate payroll tasks and strictly follow company policies and legal regulations. An outstanding payroll coordinator should also possess strong people skills.Key Responsibilities: Oversees procedures and processes and manages inquiries and requests related to preparation and distribution of payroll.Collecting and verifying employee and timekeeping data.Computing wages, deductions, commissions, benefits, etc.Reviewing computed wages to ensure accuracy.Issuing and distributing paychecks.Updating payroll information for promotions, transfers, terminations, and new hires.Recording and maintaining employee records and payroll transactions.Preparing statements reflecting earnings, taxes, and deductions.Answering questions and resolving issues regarding payroll.Ensuring compliance with company policies, relevant industry regulations, tax, and deduction laws.Preparing payroll reports for management and auditing purposes.Enters, maintains, and/or processes information in the payroll system; information may include employees’ hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, and other information.Ensures proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, charitable contributions, and other deductions.Issues, or reissues, physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge.Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.Maintains or oversees the maintenance of employee records.Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.Conducts all aspects of bi-weekly payroll process with oversight and input from the Controller, including but not limited to reviewing on-call hours, overtime requirements, updating benefits deductions.Post payroll journal entry in accounting software.Maintain timekeeping system with accurate project codes and pay/bill rates.Run monthly project reports and post journal entries to reclassify time to specific projects.Researches and implements payroll tax requirements as needed.Ensure proper use and protection of information assets by complying with the organization’s information privacy and security policies to protect assets from unauthorized access and by reporting any security events or potential events or other security risks to the organization.Performs additional duties as directed.Requirements: Associate Degree in Business Administration/Finance or equivalent level of knowledge in a relevant field.Two years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping with experience in payroll preferred.Commitment to payroll best practices and regulations including knowledge of payroll law/regulations.Exercises sound judgment and exhibits strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.Displays exceptional interpersonal communication and leadership skills, with particular attention to confidentiality.Good working knowledge of accounting practices and tax laws.Always interacts with employees in a positive and helpful manner.Promotes company policies and procedures by leading by example.Ability to work independently and cooperatively as part of a team.Ability to maintain strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment Proficiency in Microsoft Office, payroll systems and database software.Working knowledge of Paycom preferred but not required.High-volume payroll experience is preferred.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.Organizational and time management skills.An analytical mind with good math skills.Park PerksFree admission when off-duty, Earn Rewards, Employee discountsJob Type: Part-timePay: From $30.00 per hourSchedule:Monday to FridayWeekend availabilityAbility to commute/relocate:Rye, NY 10580: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)Education:Associate (Preferred)Experience:Accounting: 2 years (Preferred)Work Location: One location
